Pratt and Whitney Canada
About Maryam:
I am a principal structural engineer at Pratt & Whitney Canada. My work focuses on structural integrity and fatigue analysis of aircraft engine to ensure the safety and reliability of critical components. I hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Windsor, where my research focused on AI-enhanced nondestructive evaluation technologies. My work bridges aerospace engineering, advanced materials, and predictive diagnostics, and I am passionate about translating research innovations into real-world engineering solutions.
Breakout Session 4: 2:45pm – 3:45pm
Topic: Safe Skies: From Structural Integrity to Next-Generation Aerospace Systems
Modern aerospace engineering is evolving rapidly through advances in materials, systems, and data driven analysis. Ensuring safety and reliability in this changing landscape requires engineers to integrate traditional structural mechanics with emerging technologies such as AI and advanced diagnostics. Drawing on experience in structural integrity, nondestructive evaluation, and fatigue analysis of engine components, this talk explores how new engineering tools are transforming aircraft design and maintenance. It highlights how interdisciplinary approaches that combine materials science, digital inspection technologies, and predictive modeling can enable safer, more efficient, and sustainable aviation while encouraging engineers to rethink how reliability is achieved across the lifecycle.
