Kirk Johnson is President of Eco-Efficiency Consulting, which advances energy efficiency market transformation across Canada. He has led over $300M in Cleantech and decarbonization programs for provincial and municipal agencies, national industry associations, colleges and universities, and sustainability NGOs. These initiatives have triggered over $1 billion in project investments that reduce energy and GHG emissions, increase cost savings, and empower market actors to scale cleantech adoption.
Over his two-decade-plus career, Kirk has introduced Market Transformation programs like the ENERGY STAR Multifamily High-Rise Standard (Canadian adaptation), SBC EnergySPRING, CaGBC GREEN UP, and City of Toronto Toronto Green Standard (TGS - Energy Section). He has developed several Workforce Development programs for ISED/NRCan/Ministry of Energy/ECCC funders, including the recently ISED-funded University of Waterloo’s Career Accelerator Program. He has also managed the design and/or delivery of landmark energy efficiency incentive programs, including OPA/IESO’s High-Performance New Construction (HPNC) Incentive program, HRAI’s GREEN ON Retrofit Residential Incentives, and commercial office/multi-family incentive programs with BOMA Toronto (BOMA CDM) & City of Toronto (Better Buildings Partnership - BBP Incentives). Kirk has Chaired/Co-Chaired numerous Advisory Panels, Committees, and Working Groups for ULI-Toronto, NRCan, EnerQuality, TAF, Earth Day Canada, and the City of Toronto.
